Funny Scene At McD's

On Saturday, a funny thing happened at a crowded McDonald's restaurant when I was queueing up for a burger. When waiting my turn, a cashier was reprimanding a fellow colleague, saying "Why you go throw away the receipt?! Now where is it?!" Her colleague, who had her hands filled attending to a customer, replied in a inadequate mix of singlish and english,"Ask my mother lah!" Obviously disgusted, the customer shot a piercing gaze at the woman, before the woman apologised cheekily.
Other than that, there was also a another incident, when I was ordering a 'fillet o' fish'. Like stated above, the fast food restaurant was crowded, therefore orders were carried out ironically slowly. After a 5 minutes wait for the burger, the same cashier shouted out "Hey,where's the fillet ah?!", only to be echoed by another colleague "Yah, where is it? Swimming ah?!" Without further hesitation, the fillet 'swam' out.

Well, to me, that incident reflected badly on McD's customer service. They cannot expect to gain customers with incompetent behaviour as such, and especially with the global economic crisis, good service is essential to make up for customers that have turned down restaurants because of tight expenses. So I hope any kind of McD's personnel will stumble across this post, and maybe heed my advice and strive for improvement.

Blog Prompt: Article on Goal-Setting

Article On Goal-setting
By Dr William Tan

‘Many a one has succeeded only because he has failed after repeated efforts, if he had never met defeat, he would never have known any great victory’
- Orison Sweet Marden
I am writing an article today about 'goal-setting'. A goal is a vision of where you want to go. These goal setting templates can help you to take small systematic steps to make your vision blossom into reality. Imagine the following scenario:
You are just starting your vacation, your bags are all packed and you are ready to go! You are going on a road trip across the country. As you pull out of your driveway and onto highway, you have a clear idea of the direction you want to go and how you are going there. You know where you will be staying tonight and the next night, and you have planned to visit some tourist sights along the way. And obviously, you are sure that you can catching all these breath-taking monuments before time runs out.
Why? Because you are being realistic and measurable. Similarly, your goals have to be realistic, but at the same time a target that will definitely will be a challenge to achieve. As I assume readers of these magazine are in the prime of their youth, I advise all of you to make full use of the time that you have now to set worthwhile goals. However, be aware of the obstacles ahead too.
Goals keep us focused and motivated in life. They help us see light at the end of the tunnel and guide us through difficult period when many others would quit. So, work towards your goals; work towards success.

I'm back!

Okay, so I've finally posted again after three really busy days. Of course, there is a reason to the absence, mainly because of work and a crazy fever. Sadly, Liverpool have lost the lead to Man Utd, who got away yesterday night with a narrow1-0 win after off-par striker Dimitar Berbatov headed the ball in at the 90th minute, allowing Man Utd, whose longest winning steak this season only measured up to 3 games(compared to Liverpool's 5 game winning streak), to unfortunately scrape all 3 points.
Anyway, the famous (drum-roll please..)
Merseyside Derby will be held on Tuesday,4.00 a.m. Well, I got school then so won't be able to catch the sure-to-be competitve match.

Thats all the news for now.

School Blog Prompt: Cruelty to Whales

Good morning, one and all here at this public forum.

I am a member of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty To Animals, or SPCA as it is more commonly known, and I am here today to give a speech on the topic 'Cruelty of Whaling in Japan'. As most of you might know, whaling has become a huge issue in the past few years and I am here to heighten the awareness of this particular issue and hopefully, put an end to it. Now, recent reports from top news industries such as the BBC and CNA state that the way whales have been hunted and killed have been deemed as 'to cruel to watch' and inhumane. I am sure some of you will also agree to this when you hear some of the methods the Japanese use include firing a harpoon rigged with explosives at a whale, with the bombs ready to go off any time as the suffering whale struggles to break free. As well-known UK naturalist Sir David Attenborough has put it, "there is no humane way to kill a whale at sea".

Some 140 groups of animal welfare campaigners have gathered together to form a group called Whalewatch, and even as I speak now, are still strictly protesting against the International Whaling Commission, whose members include Japan, Norway and Iceland. However, after our fellow representitives from the SPCA have interviewed and informed Japanese whalers of the rapidly-spreading news, most of them insist that their methods are not cruel, and reject calls to end whaling, while others give reasons like the current econimical crisis to ccover up for the obvious truth.
So, after hearing examples of cruelty to whales when getting hunted and views of some whalers, I hope all of you here will be more understanding towards cruelty to whales and make a stand against it, for the greater good of the population of whales and Mother Nature.
With that, I end my speech.

Hmm...What to say..

Great. I'm all out of ideas... Nevermind, will just talk about school then. So...I simply woke up, survived and got back home I guess. Oh yeah, looking forward to the Tennis trials, hopefully it will be a great chance for me to get into the team, secure a successful Ep3.
Whoa! Fernando Torres just commented that Man United are 'clear favourites' for the Prem Title! That's true, but we shouldn't give up, because this is one of our closest chances in 16 years of 'reclaiming' the title that was deservingly ours in the past campaigns. Sure, Man Utd have a strong squad, but I believe Liverpool have the right team sprit to go all the way and win this. They have all that and a great fanbase, stadium, squad and much more, so they should 'chiong all the way' and persevere!!

Martie is Back!!

Liverpool has officially declared defender Martin Skrtel fit to play after a horrific incident involving a brave Skrtel and an akward landing soon after, causing him to be out of action for about 4 months. Well, I hope he can form a rock-solid partnership with Carragher if he is ever inthe starting line up. Since Liverpool have carelessly conceded a few goals due to their leaky defence, I hope the return of Skrtel will boost both the morale and defence of Liverpool.

All the Best to Their Title Hopes

Aaargh!

NOO!!! Liverpool drew with the lowly Stoke City 0-0, all because of some really inaproppriate tactics!
Leaving star striker Torres on the bench and replacing him with out-of-date striker Dirk Kuyt wasn't the advisable thing to do, as Dirk Kuyt(21 Games
,5 Goals) actually played most of his Premier League matches as a right-winger, so he obviously would be more familiar with swinging a cross into the box rather than slotting it past the 'keeper. Though they are table-toppers now, if they keep this up they'll be struggling to hang on at the top.
So Rafa(Manager), you might want to read up on your tactics a litttle more, maybe learn a thing or two from Zhuge Liang(refer to earlier post).

So, will be rooting for
Liverpool this week, as they take on Everton in the Merseyside Derby

That's all for now.

Review Of Red Cliff 2

So,I managed to catch the movie Red Cliff 2 yesterday evening at 9.30. The movie starts of with a rather helpful and stylishly executed recap of the events of Part 1, before kicking off this highly-anticipated sequel with a competitive game of Cuju(Kickball), which Cao Cao's soldiers are taking part in just to kill time. Across the bay, Sun Quan, Zhou Yu, Zhuge Liang and their suboordinates are busy formulating a battle plan as they wait for The Battle of Red Cliff to commence. Meanwhile, Sun Quan's sister, Sun Xiang is over at Cao Cao's war camp masquerading as one of his soldiers, gathering valuable information and sending them over through the means of a messenger pidgeon.
One of the turning points of the build up to the story was when Cao Cao employed a devious tactic by sending corpses infected with typhliod on rafts over to Sun Quan's camp, resulting in the unsuspecting villagers and soldiers in the camp getting infected and causing an outbreak of epidemic. Therefore, Liu Bei breaks his alliance with Sun Quan for the welfare of his men and heads out of camp, causing a huge dent to Sun Quan's hopes of winning the war. Once the news spread to his ears, Cao Cao thinks he has the war in his hands. However, that was not the last we'll see of Liu Bei, who will play an important part of
The Battle of Red Cliff...
Red Cliff 2 is a very strategic and action-packed show, filled with many ingenious tactics, trickery, mind-games and humourous scenes every once in a while, Red Cliff 2 is definitely a great way to start of the year 2009.

Thats all for today

Links You Should Try:

My friend Jim also has a blog, the Old Beggar link. It's almost the same, just more 'optimistic'. Don't be fooled though ;)

Anyway, just check out his blog. A little 'jumpy' for a Sec 1, don't you think?

A Busy Day..

Well, today is going to be kind of busy...woke up at 8 today to play tennis for two hours, and doing some school homework right now. Later on I'l be doing some intensive swimming, then maybe catch a movie. Hoping to watch Red Cliff 2, the sequel to one of the best-rated movies of 08, Red Cliff. Well, the first movie was like the build up to the war which will take place in the sequel. Basically, the movie takes place in Chinese history, in the year 208. A great war-themed movie, with well-known Chinese guys like the chancellor Zhuge Liang, warlord Liu Bei, Liu Bei's generals Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Of course, war general Cao Cao too. Personally, I'm sure this movie would be a superb follow-up to the first movie and definitely worth the six-months wait.
Oh yeah, Liverpool's match today is at 1a.m., against Stoke City.

Might Review the Movie
sooner-rather-than-later.(Spoiler alert)
