Review Of Red Cliff 2

So,I managed to catch the movie Red Cliff 2 yesterday evening at 9.30. The movie starts of with a rather helpful and stylishly executed recap of the events of Part 1, before kicking off this highly-anticipated sequel with a competitive game of Cuju(Kickball), which Cao Cao's soldiers are taking part in just to kill time. Across the bay, Sun Quan, Zhou Yu, Zhuge Liang and their suboordinates are busy formulating a battle plan as they wait for The Battle of Red Cliff to commence. Meanwhile, Sun Quan's sister, Sun Xiang is over at Cao Cao's war camp masquerading as one of his soldiers, gathering valuable information and sending them over through the means of a messenger pidgeon.
One of the turning points of the build up to the story was when Cao Cao employed a devious tactic by sending corpses infected with typhliod on rafts over to Sun Quan's camp, resulting in the unsuspecting villagers and soldiers in the camp getting infected and causing an outbreak of epidemic. Therefore, Liu Bei breaks his alliance with Sun Quan for the welfare of his men and heads out of camp, causing a huge dent to Sun Quan's hopes of winning the war. Once the news spread to his ears, Cao Cao thinks he has the war in his hands. However, that was not the last we'll see of Liu Bei, who will play an important part of The Battle of Red Cliff...
Red Cliff 2 is a very strategic and action-packed show, filled with many ingenious tactics, trickery, mind-games and humourous scenes every once in a while, Red Cliff 2 is definitely a great way to start of the year 2009.
